Darryl Plout

Darryl John Plout, 80, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2015, following a quiet and courageous two year battle with a variety of health issues.

He was born on March 10, 1935, in North Prairie, the son of the late John and Thora (Kaeding) Plout.  Following graduation from St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield, he began work at Sentry Foods in West Bend, a store that was owned and operated by his parents.  On August 7th, 1954, he was united in marriage to Audrey Behm in Cambridge and they were blessed with the birth of three sons, John, Tim, and Steve. While in West Bend he participated in many clubs, organizations and activities and was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.

After his parent’s retirement, Darryl and Audrey purchased Sentry Foods in West Bend and continued to operate it until it was sold in 1980. Darryl continued employment in the grocery business as a food broker until his retirement in 1996. After retiring he and Audrey moved to Sun City West, Arizona.

Living as a full time resident in the warmth and sunshine of Arizona allowed Darryl to work on his beloved game of golf. He scored two holes-in-one in his lifetime and credited them to “More luck then skill.” Darryl was also an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers.

Those Darryl leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Audrey; two sons, John (Jane) Plout of Marshall, MI, and Steve (Jean) Plout of Princeton; a daughter-in-law, Pat of Fond du Lac; three grandchildren, Mitchell Plout, Manda Plout and Jacqueline Wene; two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Tristen Wene; a sister, Bonnie (Richard) Putze of Sun City West, AZ, as well as other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Darryl was preceded in death by his son Tim in 2006.

Darryl leaves behind many happy memories that his family and friends will hold onto when they are at their saddest moments. His quick wit and amazing sense of humor will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St. in West Bend, WI, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015. A luncheon will be held following the service where guests may meet with the family. A second service will be held in Sun City West at a later date.

Darryl’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of celebration.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Desert Garden Church of Sun City West would be appreciated.
