Florence M. Degnitz

Florence M. Degnitz, (nee Jung), 87, of West Bend, was called home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at her home.

She was born on July 8, 1928 to the late Oscar and Amelia (nee Wiesner) Jung in West Bend. She went to elementary school in the Town of Wayne. On July 20, 1946 she was united in marriage to Willard Degnitz at St. Martin’s UCC church in Fillmore, WI. Florence stayed at home and raise their four children. She was a lifelong member of St. Martin’s UCC church. She was very involved at church being a Sunday school teacher, member of the church choir, and the Ladies' Guild. She was a Project Leader of the B-Mer-E 4-H Club. Florence was active in the community volunteering at the Red Cross, Cedar Lake Homes, and SHARE. She worked at knitting hats and mittens for the Volunteer Center of Washington County. Florence enjoyed going to Moon Beach Camp for family camp, which she shared with her son’s family for 25 plus years.

Those Florence leaves behind to cherish his memory include her four children, Nancy(James) Eberhardt, Laurel Degnitz, Carolyn (Rev. Alan) Gumm, and Rev. Thomas(Lori) Degnitz; ten grandchildren, William Eberhardt, Paul Eberhardt, Dan(Kimberly) Eberhardt, Angela(Joseph) Garofalo, Rev. Jeremiah(Lisa) Gumm Joseph(Annie) Gumm,, Hannah(Joseph) Mueller, Jonathan Gumm, Sarah Degnitz, and Emily Degnitz; sixteen-great-grandchildren, Brianna Eberhardt, Danika Eberhardt, Miranda Eberhardt, Larissa Eberhardt, Genevieve Garofalo, Dominic Garofalo, Joseph Garofalo, Adelaide Gumm, Matthias Gumm, Clara Gumm, Muriel Gumm, Benjamin Gumm, Evangeline Gumm, Aaron Gumm, Lena Mueller, and Gemma Mueller; two brothers, Ralph(Sandra) Jung and Dale(Pamela) Jung; nine sisters, Adeline(Franklin) Held, Joyce Doll, Ruth Gollnick, Bette(Eugene) Laatsch, Judith(Gerald) Fahney, Sharon(Peter) Zirtzlaff, Patricia Jelinek, Sandra(Donald) Rosenthal, Carol(Russell) Fellenz; sister in law, Shirley Jung; other relatives and friends.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Willard; two brothers, Vernon Jung and Lloyd Jung; her in laws, Robert (Edna) Degnitz and Earl (Laverne) Crass; and Norman (Doreen) Wolf.

A funeral service in remembrance of Florence will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martin’s UCC Church, (592 County Road H) Fillmore, WI. Burial will follow the service at Fillmore Union Cemetery.

Florence’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
