Gordon J. Schultz, 79, of Lomira, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, surrounded by his loving family.

 

Gordon was born on September 6, 1936, in the town of Williamstown, the son of the late Emil and Dorothy (Bloedow) Schultz. On September 8, 1956, he was united in marriage to Shirley Schwartz at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in town of Lomira.

 

Gordon was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in the town of Lomira. He was a graduate of Lomira High School in 1953. Gordon entered the U.S. Marine Corps in March of 1954 and was discharged in March of 1957. He was a tank mechanic and spent time in Korea in 1955. He worked as an auto mechanic for various shops and dealerships, retiring in 1998 from EVS. Gordon’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking, and casino trips. He was an avid fan of the Packer, Brewers, and Badgers.

 

Those Gordon leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirley; three children, Lori Schultz of Horicon, Faye Ruiz of Beaver Dam, and Joel (Lisa) Schultz of Appleton; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren with one on the way; three step great granddaughters; two brothers, Roger (Linda) Schultz of Fond du Lac and Gerald (Judy) Schultz of New Holstein; a sister, Rita Schuldt of Fond du Lac; other relatives and friends.

 

In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey and Adela Bloedow and Louis and Alma Schultz.

 

Funeral services for Gordon will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9910 Highway 175, in the town of Lomira. Rev. Matthew Kuske will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Gordon’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, May 4, from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Lomira Historical Society are appreciated.

The Schultz family extends their deepest appreciation to all the care Gordon received at Manor Care in Fond du Lac, to Dr. Christopher Nervi and his staff, and all the nurses and doctors in the ICU for the wonderful and excellent around the clock care given to Gordon.
