Joan G. Dean, 78, of Kewaskum, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011, at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.


She was born on October 27, 1933, in Kewaskum, the daughter of the late Edward E. “Pat” and Mary “Mae” (Little) Miller, and on May 10, 1958, she was united in marriage to Paul Dean at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.


Joan was a 1951 graduate of Kewaskum High School. Following high school, she studied with the Chicago School of Interior Design. Joan was an interior decorator for Miller’s Furniture Store in Kewaskum, retiring after 52 years of service. She had a keen sense for coordinating colors, textures and styles for many clients.


Joan was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum where she was a member of the prayer chain and petition writers.


Joan was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed reading and playing cards. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.


Those Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 53 years, Paul; four children, James Dean of Kewaskum, Denise (Michael) Miketinac of Green Bay, David (Linda) Dean of Grafton and Gregg (Marie) Dean of Brookfield; four grandchildren, Devan, Lauren, Everett and Sienna; two step-grandchildren, Rebecca and Ruger; two brothers, Edward J. (Sharron) Miller and Theodore (Patricia) Miller both of Kewaskum; three sisters, Mary Ellen (John) McElhatton, Isabelle (Hugo) Straub and Clare (William C.) Lehmann all of Kewaskum, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.


Joan was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Mark Dean; a sister, Sr. Donna Miller O.S.F.; two brothers, Robert and David Miller and her stepmothers, Virginia Miller and Lucina “Lu” Miller.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum, following a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.


Relatives and friends called at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., where a prayer vigil was held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continued at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:30 prayer service.
