Karen M. (Maiers) Kroening

Karen M. Kroening, 60, of West Bend, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.

She was born on January 30, 1957, in Milwaukee, the daughter of William and Jane (nee Helz) Maiers and on May 5, 1979, she was united in marriage to Mark Kroening at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg.

Karen loved sewing, gardening, water aerobics, cooking, and baking her famous cream cheese bars.  She enjoyed having coffee with friends, spending time on the lake and her canine companions Rook and Apollo.  Karen’s greatest joys came from spending time with her family and friends.  She will fondly be remembered for always being willing to lend a hand and help others.

Those Karen leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 37 years, Mark;  three children, Matthew (fiancé Ashley) Kroening, Pamela Kroening, and Amanda Kroening all of West Bend; two brothers, Steve (Carol) Maiers of Hancock and Joseph Maiers of Cedarburg; a sister, Connie Ziebell of West Bend; her father, William Maiers of West Bend; six brothers-in-law, Terry (Karen) Kroening of Cedarburg, Thomas Kroening of Cedarburg, Steven (Mary) Kroening of Oconomowoc, David (Lori) Kroening of Cedarburg, Mike (Donna) Kroening of Fredonia, and Charlie Kroening of Saukville; a mother-in-law, Betty Kroening of Cedarburg, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Maiers; a father-in-law, Harry Kroening and a brother-in-law, Greg Ziebell.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Karen will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1610 Monroe St. in West Bend. Fr. Justin Lopina will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Kroening family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
