Leonard E. Casper

Leonard E. Casper, 81, of West Bend, formerly of Newburg, found peace on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Serenity Villa in Slinger, with his family at his side.

 

Leonard was born on October 27, 1936, in West Bend, the son of the late Frank and Alma (Bell) Casper. In July of 1960 he was united in marriage to Jane Strenke at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Jane preceded Leonard in death on January 4, 1984.

 

Leonard retired as an electrician for Steiner Electric. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and enjoyed traveling in his retirement. He went up to Eagle River to go fishing and boating frequently. Leonard was a lifetime member of the Newburg Fire Department and looked forward to Monday night practice with his buddies. In his last years he enjoyed his Thursday afternoon card playing with friends at the fire department. Leonard was also a member of the Newburg Lions Club and Turkey Club.

 

Those Leonard leaves behind to cherish his memory include two children, Vickie Bartlett (Dave Berndt) of West Bend and Ron Casper of West Bend; two grandchildren, Brittani (Nicholas) Mundlinger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Tyler Bartlett of West Bend, currently enlisted in the Airforce stationed at Little Rock, Arkansas; a great-grandson, Lincoln Mundlinger; a sister-in-law, Judy Krell of West Bend; also survived by LaVonne Casper and Tracey Kopeschka both of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

 

In addition to his wife and parents, Leonard was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Gumm-Kies and Darlene (Howard) Glander; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Emily Strenke; and three brothers-in-law, Marvin Gumm, Ralph Kies, and Roger Krell.

 

A funeral service for Leonard will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, in West Bend with Deacon Michael Koebel officiating.

 

Leonard’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials to Alzheimer’s South East Wisconsin or Serenity Villa is appreciated.

 

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Serenity Villa and Horizon Hospice for the care provided to Leonard.
