Welcome to the memorial page for

Marilynn (Kime) Jaastad

May 20, 1915 ~ July 25, 2016 (age 101) 101 Years Old

Marilynn K. Jaastad (nee Kime), 101, went home to Heaven on Monday, July 25, 2016 with her loving family at her side.

Marilynn was born on May 20, 1915, in Kentland IN, to the late Louis and Grace Kime (nee Crewes).  She graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee, WI and worked as a professional model for a number of local department stores. On June 14, 1940, she married Leonard B. Jaastad. They were stationed in the southern United States while he served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II.  The couple raised their two daughters, Lynnette and Marcia, in Milwaukee.  Marilynn eventually moved to West Bend where she worked at Decorah Modes and Jeanne’s Country Casuals.

Marilynn was an active and dedicated member of the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend. She was involved in several church groups, including Marathon Bridge. Marilynn was also a member and volunteer at the West Bend Historical Society and the West Bend Art Museum. She was an accomplished knitter, knitting afghans and donating hundreds, if not thousands, of baby caps to the local St. Joseph’s Hospital. In her spare time, Marilynn could be found working on Journal Sentinel crossword puzzles, listening to Brewer or Packer games, tending her flowers, and loving her grandchildren.  Her family remembers her as an energetic, determined and caring woman who was kind, gentle and loving to all.

Those Marilynn leaves behind to cherish memories of her include her two daughters, Lynnette Haegele of Woodstock, GA and Marcia (Herman) Schanen of Port Washington; three grandchildren, Diana (Scott) Pickup of Woodstock, GA, Jennifer Schanen of De Pere and Brian Schanen of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, relatives and many beloved friends.

In addition to her parents Marilynn was preceded in death a brother, Duane (Bernadette) Kime; a sister-in-law, Audrey Kime; a dear cousin, Elisabeth (Vernon) Von Qualen; a former husband, Leonard Jaastad and a grandson, Rhett Haegele.

A Funeral Service for Marilynn will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 323 S. 5th Ave. in West Bend with Rev. Wesley Falk and Rev. Clarissa Martinelli officiating. There will be a reception following the service and all are welcome to attend and celebrate Marilynn’s life.

The Jaastad family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice is appreciated.
