Arlyn LeRoy Rose

September 22, 1934 ~ August 6, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Arlyn L. Rose, 82, of Lomira, entered eternal life on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with his family by his side.

He was born on September, 22, 1934, in Winona, MN, the son of the late Ervin and Vera (nee Garb) Rose and on November 13, 1954, Arlyn was united in marriage to Janet Schuff at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.

Arlyn was a heavy equipment operator for JF Ahern Co. for 36 years and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139.  In 2006 he was the “Retiree of the Year” and awarded a Lifetime Membership in recognition of his 50 years of continuous membership to Operating Engineers Local 139.   Arlyn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira since 1960 where he served on the church council and school board for many years.  He was also a longtime member of the Lomira Lions Club and a past president.

In his free time Arlyn enjoyed traveling with friends, vacations, taking care of his lawn, and helping his children build many projects as well as their houses.  His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Those Arlyn leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Janet; three children, Denise (Ron) Rusch of Fond du Lac, Dale (Holly) Rose of Brownsville, and Debbie (John) Zedler of Lomira; seven grandchildren, Barry (Bethany) Rusch, Laura (fiancé John Lancor) Rusch, Matt (Erin) Zedler, Tim (Lisa) Zedler, Nicole (Ryan) Jackson, Katie (Chris) Pickhardt, and Kristin (Eric) Stortz; 15 great-grandchildren, Ava Rusch, Miles Rusch, Jordan Rusch, Max Rost, Zildjan Lancor, Aiden Zedler, Mia Zedler, Auna Frost, Shauna Frost, Bodhi Zedler, Hudson Zedler, Levi Zedler, Isla Jackson, Julia Stortz, and a great-grandson to be born in October; a great-great-grandson, Bentley Rusch and a great-great-granddaughter to be born in September; two brothers, Morris Rose of Lomira and Jacque (Mary) Rose of Fond du Lac; a sister, Linda (John) Schmidt of New Ulm, MN; a brother-in-law, Le Roy (Darlene) Schuff of Neenah; two sisters-in-law, Karen (Ron) Davey and Judy Pechman of Oshkosh, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents Arlyn was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Henry and Margaret (nee Hannes) Schuff; four sisters-in-law, Eleanor Schuff, Gloria Schuff, Sandra Blank, and Barbara Rose, and two brothers-in-law, Bob Pechman and Richard Schuff.

A funeral service for Arlyn will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 558 S Water St., in Lomira.  Rev. Matthew Kiecker will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Rose family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church or School are appreciated.

The Rose family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the 6th floor nurses at St. Agnes Hospital for the wonderful care they provided.
