Lloyd "Bud" Kiel Obituary

Lloyd “Bud” F Kiel, 96 of West Bend made an address change and was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2018.

He was born on June 24, 1922 to the late Frederick and Ora (nee Schuette) Kiel in Manitowoc, WI. He grew up on a dairy farm and spent his elementary school years in a one room school house. He attended high school in Manitowoc and entered the Army in October 1942 during World War II on Co. A 1614 Engineers Water Supply Company and was honorable discharged in 1945. Lloyd attended Manitowoc Community College receiving his two-year associate’s degree.

His love of horses led him to be a riding instructor for the local riding academy in Manitowoc. He owned a thoroughbred horse named Sonny. Lloyd and his family cash cropped the family farm for many years.

On March 22, 1947 he was united in marriage to Dorothea Mae Heise in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and were married for 63 years. They moved to West Bend the year after their marriage where he was the financial loan manager for Friendly Finance Corporation, Northern Credit, then the supervisor for The Associates. Lloyd started his own finance corporation in 1970 called Capital Finance in Waupun, Wisconsin. He was also the owner of Capital Insurance Agency in Waupun until his retirement. He received service awards in 1991 and 1993 from Wisconsin Financial Services Association. Lloyd was a member of the Mayville Real Estate Group SKKG as well as a member of the Mayville Goose Haven Gun Club.

During his retirement he enjoyed winters in Mesa, Arizona golfing, where he made a hole in one, swimming, playing cards and volunteering at the Veteran’s Administration. He also enjoyed church duties at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mesa and many get togethers with family and friends. Lloyd loved sports, especially the Packers and the Brewers.

He was very involved with community service in Mesa, Arizona and West Bend. Lloyd was a member of the VFW post 1393 and on the Veteran’s Service Commission for 50 years from 1956 until 2006. He enjoyed volunteering at the Washington County Fair. Lloyd was involved in the West Bend Rotary Club and President of the Waupun Rotary Club in 1977 and 1978. He received the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award in May 1978 for hosting a Japanese delegation and promoting understanding and friendly relations between peoples of the world.

Lloyd was a dedicated member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. He was an active member involved with many church interests. He enjoyed the men’s bible study sessions with Pastor Jeff Dorth.

His love for his family was first and foremost in his life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Those Lloyd leaves behind to cherish his memory include his five children, Lynn (Frank) Krivitz of Oro Valley, AZ, Chris (Jim) Wollner of West Bend, WI Jeff (Candy) Kiel of Reno, Nevada, Jon (Diane) Kiel of Allenton, WI, and Lisa (Mark) Tracy of Campbellsport WI.; nine grandchildren, Shawn (Nicole) Krivitz, Travis (Laurie) Wollner, Tricia (Mark) Keller, Andrew (Nicole) Kiel, Ashley (Matt) Dover, Lindsey (Fiancé, Garrett Goeller) Kiel, Kerry (Kevin) Smith, Amanda (Significant other Dale Sabish) Brown, and Danielle (Significant other, Cameron St. Mary) Brown; fourteen great-grandchildren, Samantha (Justin) Schultz, Bo Keller, Luke Keller, Caleb Smith, Ava Smith, Xavier Rauch, Avery Rauch, Cole Dover, Wyatt Dover, Lila St. Mary, Layton St. Mary, Gerrit Kiel, Berend Kiel, and Mason Krivitz due in September 2018; a great-great granddaughter, Gabriella Schultz; a sister, Dorothy Anthony in Phoenix, Arizona; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea Kiel; a sister, Carol Fanslau; and a grandson, David Krivitz.

A memorial service in remembrance of Lloyd will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave., West Bend

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Memorial to St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church Education Fund or to the family for donation by them to the Homeless and Disabled Vets in Lloyds name is appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Ivy Manor and Serenity hospice, the Doctors and Chaplin, and St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church pastors for the loving care extended to him.
