Mathias J. "Matt" Schickert

   Mathias J. “Matt” Schickert, 84, of Kewaskum, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk, surrounded by his loving family.


   He was born on February 23, 1928, in Nabob, the son of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Kedinger) Schickert, and on September 8, 1951, he was united in marriage to Catherine Schmidt at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nenno.


   Matt was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. He was employed by Regal Ware Inc. in Kewaskum retiring on March 1, 1990, after 30 years of service, and was a member of the 25-Year Club.


   Those Matt leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Catherine; six children, Randy (Diane) Schickert of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Tom (Angela) Schickert, Allen (Cindy) Schickert and Eugene (Linda) Schickert all of Kewaskum, Lucy (Harvey) Braford of Brownsville and LuAnn (Don) Schrauth of Campbellsport; four brothers, Andrew (Lilly) Schickert of Plymouth, Lawrence (Toni) Schickert of Rhinelander, Leo Schickert of West Bend and Bernie Schickert of Hartford; a sister, Mary (Ralph) Beine of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Ann Schickert of Campbellsport and Joan Schickert of Hartford; ten grandchildren, Travis, Stacey, Jaime, Julie, Michael, Lisa, Kevin, Ben, Amanda and Heather; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.


   In addition to his parents, Matt was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Schickert; three brothers, Donald, Norbert and Henry Schickert; a sister-in-law, Alice Schickert; his mother and father-in-law, Emil and Margaret Schmidt.
  

A Mass of Christian Burial for Matt was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath and Father Mark Jones concelebrating. Entombment followed in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
  

Matt’s family received visitors at the Miller Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. where a prayer service was held at 6:45 p.m. Visitation was also at church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
  

In lieu of flowers memorials to Holy Trinity Catholic School or Kathy Hospice are appreciated.  


The Schickert family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Kathy Hospice and Cedar Community Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Matt.
