Vernon O. Kumrow

July 26, 1928 ~ September 25, 2015 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Vernon O. Kumrow, 87, of the town of Scott, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.

 

Vernon was born on July 26, 1928, in the town of Scott, the son of the late Gerhard and Leona (Ramthum) Kumrow. He attended LaFollette Grade School in the town of Sherman. On August 21, 1954, Vernon was united in marriage to Myrtle Lueke at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.

 

Vernon purchased his first milk route in 1949 and became self-employed as a milk hauler to Passini Cheese in the town of Mitchell for over 25 years. He was also employed in the milk plant and hauled to Schneider Cheese in the town of Lima for over 25 years. Vernon and his wife operated Kumrow’s Mink Ranch for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1952 and was a member of Random Lake VFW Post 10820.

 

Vernon was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. He was a member of Sheboygan Lake Shore Pigeon Club, a former member of the Kettle Moraine Mink Ranch Association and was a former project leader in the Scott Pioneers 4H Club. Vernon attended Adell Senior Center where he enjoyed playing sheepshead. His hobbies were hunting and raising small animals. Vernon enjoyed his milk route, spending time at his son’s farm and with his grandchildren.

 

Those Vernon leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Myrtle; a son, Gerald (Cheri) Kumrow of Adell; two daughters, Violet (Dan) Pfeifer of Adell and Susan (Tony) Deheck of Sheboygan Falls; five grandchildren, Gary Kumrow, Heather Pfeifer, Jade Pfeifer, Katie Deheck and Sarah Deheck; a brother, Ivan (Janet) Kumrow of Random Lake; a sister, Joyce (Butch) Butler of Cottage Grove; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by a brother, Jerome (Geraldine) Kumrow.

 

Funeral services for Vernon will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.

 

Vernon’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Rev. Joseph Fisher will officiate and burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, Random Lake Ambulance or to the charity of your choice is appreciated.
