Elmer D. "Zeke" Schmidt

Elmer D. “Zeke” Schmidt, 87, of Adell, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015, at the Beechwood Rest Home surrounded by his family.

Elmer was born on April 16, 1928, the son of the late Otto and Erma (Wittenberg) Schmidt, and on August 25, 1956, he was united in marriage to Lois Stange at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum.

Elmer was baptised and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dundee where he was a lifelong member. He had a passion for farming and enjoyed deer hunting on the family farm. Elmer loved to watch boxing, telling his childhood stories and listening to polka music.

Those Elmer leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Lois; two children, Jim (Dina) Schmidt of Beechwood and Lynn (Kevin “KT”) Thull of St. Michaels; a grandson, Austen Schmidt; two sisters, Phyllis Narges of Waucousta and Carol (Ken) Koth of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, David (Eileen) Stange of Batavia; two sisters-in-law, Gayl Schmidt and Joyce Schmidt both of Beechwood, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by a son, Rick Schmidt; a grandson, Brent Schultz; three brothers, Alvin “Mike” (Lily) Schmidt, Eugene Schmidt and Jerome Schmidt; a sister, Sylvia (Billy) Burke; a brother-in-law, Howard “Sam” Narges; and his parents-in-law, Albert and Florence Stange.

Funeral services for Elmer will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dundee.

Elmer’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Rev. Robert Oberg will officiate and burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Dundee.

Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church and School are appreciated.
