Jason Michael Hermes

We think this is Jason's way of reminding us all that he is still running on "Jason Time".

Jason Michael “J-Man” Hermes, age 34, of West Bend, passed away on January 5, 2021 and is forever flying the skies with Jesus as his co-pilot and his dog Harley by his side.

Jason was born on June 23, 1986 in Milwaukee to Sandra (Nagel) Wilz and Michael Hermes.  He graduated from Slinger High School in 2004 and later attended the University of Wisconsin -Washington County.  Jason was a loyal employee of a manufacturing company for the past 16 years and was working toward becoming a commercial pilot.  He loved flying so much that he had even purchased his own airplane before taking his first solo flight.  Jason was a thrill seeker with a spirit of adventure that could give his parents gray hair.  He enjoyed snowmobiling, ATVing, motorcycling, and boating.  If it had a motor, Jason drove it.  He ran on his own schedule which his family nicknamed as “Jason Time”. One of his greatest joys in life was his dog and best friend Harley.  He had a great love of comedy, which he displayed often in his jokes and pranks.  He was full of humor and wit and could light up a room with his charismatic personality.  Everyone who met him would remember him, Jason left a lasting impression that would make them smile years to come.

Those Jason leaves behind to cherish his memory include his mother, Sandie (Tim) Wilz; his father, Mike (Claudia) Hermes; his maternal grandmother, Arlene (Jim) Skomski; his paternal grandmother, Virginia Hermes; a sister, Colleen Hermes; and three step-siblings, Thomas (Samantha) Wilz, Benjamin (Kassandra) Wilz, and Alyssa Wilz.  He is further survived by his aunts and uncles, Dave Hermes, Tom Nagel, Sue (Scott) Seefeldt, Cindy (Lee Jay) Huebner, Wendy (Pat) McDonald, Tanya Madalinski; many cousins; great aunts and uncles; other relatives; and close friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, Floyd Nagel and James Muehlenberg; his paternal grandfather, Duane Hermes; uncle and aunt, Jimmy Skomski and Tina Mielke; and close family friends, Sue and Jimmy Nuck.

A memorial service in remembrance of Jason will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 3:30 pm, at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St. West Bend, WI 53095).  The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 3:30 pm.  Jason's service will be available via Zoom by going to the following link:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/6543032141.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Glenn Butts for his support and mentorship over the years and for helping Jason achieve his dream of flying.  They would also like to thank Jason’s friends, Andy Casper and Tony Henke as well as the Washington County Sheriff’s Department for all of their support.
