Terri L. (nee Thompson-Bertelsen) Tybring

Terri L. Tybring (nee Thompson-Bertelsen), 58, of  West Bend, WI died on Monday, July 20, 2015 from her six year battle with cancer, at Kathy Hospice, West Bend, WI.

She was born on October 19, 1956 to Dale and Virginia (nee Vieth) Thompson in Madison, WI. She received her Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. On June 22, 1995 she was united in marriage to Bill Tybring. Terri Taught elementary and middle school music in Random Lake, WI, for 29 years. She loved challenging the students in their musical growth and also enjoyed choreography for the high school musicals. Her favorite extracurricular activity was the directing of the annual sixth grade musicals with her husband directing the sound, tech, and set building/design.

Terri has been an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. She served as the adult and youth choir director since 2000, played and sang with the worship team, and served as the Administrator of Ministries since 2005. One of her greatest passions has been working with Novahu Valluri and the India ministry supported solely by Immanuel members and friends.

Terri is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Bill Tybring of West Bend; daughter, Jinna Bertelsen of Milwaukee, WI; grandson and playmate, Brett Bartoszewicz of Milwaukee, WI; mother, Virginia Thompson of West Bend, WI; sister-in-law Barb Thompson; nieces, Jessie Bateman and Becky Lentz; nephew, Brian Thompson; step-daughter, Sarah Tybring; step-son, Josh Tybring; many friends, and “family” members at Immanuel Church, and in India.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Thompson of West Salem when he lost his fight to cancer in 2009 and her father, Dale Thompson after his battle with cancer in 2014.

 A Memorial celebration of Terri’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1st  at 2:00 pm at Immanuel United Church of Christ, (501 Walnut St., West Bend). Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Immanuel Church’s India Mission work are appreciated by the family.
