Irving R. Schmidt

June 22, 1916 ~ June 20, 2015 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Irving "Irv" R. Schmidt, 98, of West Bend, entered Resurrection Life on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at The Cottages at Cedar Run, West Bend.

He was born on June 22, 1916 to the late Richard and Anna (nee Lang) Schmidt in Menominee, MI. In high school he was an outstanding basketball player. He honorably served in the U.S. Coast Guard. On June 7, 1941 he was united in marriage to Mildred Janson in Marinette, WI. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and was a member of an investment club. In 1990 they moved into Cedar Community and he served a term as president of the residential council. He was a dedicated caregiver of his wife Mildred until her passing on January 15, 2011. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his two children, Jean Lang of Pewaukee and Rev. Stephen (Joyce) Schmidt of Bozeman, MT.; four grandchildren, Scott (Alexandra) Lang, Kimberle (Tom) Lefebvre, Sarah Schmidt, and Rebekah Schmidt; four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Cooper, Emery, and Joseph; other relative and friends.

His parents and his wife, Mildred, precede him in death.

A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of the Life of Irving will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 4960 Arthur Road, Slinger, with the Rev. Roger Koester and Irving's son Stephen officiating. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
