Kathy and family: It is very special reading all of the notes written by former students about how special Uncle Roger was. To a lot of us we didn't think of him as a great teacher but a GREAT UNCLE! For myself I remember "The Horse and The Flea" , him being Santa Clause for us at Christmas, him being there for all of the special times in my life, making hay during the summers, and yes the deer hunting over a lot of years. Kathy I'm so glad that you and your family were his family and part of ours also. Will be praying for you guys through these coming weeks. Gary

Roger was my (Jane's) favorite teacher. It was great to have a teacher like Roger in Lomira. With Deepest Sympathy

I was very fortunate to live across the street from Mr Kaufman during my childhood. We would refer to him as "Mr Rogers" because they had similar characters. Everyday we would knock on his door and he would come out and play ball with us or watch us climb his trees. He taught me how to shoot pool in his basement and my brother would go to him when he needed help with a tie. He and Betty always had their door open when times were tough and they kept their kitchen stocked with brownies and cookies. I remember watching Packer games on their TV while they listened to the commentary over the radio. They loved observing the birds outside and now we share that same hobby. Mr And Mrs Kaufman were gifts to my childhood and I will always cherish our time together on Timber Trail. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the memorial today. Flash flooding in Minnesota kept me home. ❤️

Dear Kathy,
I am so sorry for your loss, as well as the rest of the family. I always enjoyed
seeing you and Roger at Schreiners for breakfast on Saturday mornings.
You both seemed to have such great times together. Keep those memories
close to your heart, and God's blessings to all of you.
Rest in Peace, Roger.

Deepest sympathy to the family. Of the high school
teachers I had over sixty years ago, Mr. Kaufman still remains an exemplary model of a gentleman, a scholar, and a teacher. He was a great influence on my pursuit of advanced degrees. I am grateful to him for inspiring my love of learning.

Sorry to hear of Roger's passing. He was at every class reunion that our class had and was always interested in how we were doing in life. Roger and Betty were a class act.

It was Mr. Kaufman who got me interested in the War Between The States, otherwise known as The Civil War, leading to a trip to Gettysburg, PA. I don't think I have my notes from class any more, but it did lead me to a better understanding of that particular battle. Thanks, Mr. Kaufman.
With deepest sympathy,
Jens H Jensen, Class of 1971, LHS

My siblings and I had great respect for Roger Kaufman as our English and American History teacher. He was also our loyal and helpful Class of '64 advisor who always attended our reunions. I was so pleased to visit with him in Brownsville at our '59-'69 reunion. He will be remembered and missed by many.

Mr. Kaufman was one of my favorite teachers at LHS.! He made history class so interesting. He was a true professional! I would see him occasionally over the years when I visited my family and at class reunions over the years.
He was always interested in what I was doing as a teacher.
May this fine gentleman rest in peace with his beloved Betty.
